Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by the things happening in our lives, including sin. We feel guilt and, in many cases, begin to see ourselves as not worthy of God's love. This usually occurs when you've decided to live right by God. Now, while you may be overwhelmed, it is essential to remember the following;
1. That God Still Loves You
Look, Satan wants you to think and believe that God wouldn't love you as long as you sinned. But that's a lie! If you were the only person on earth, Jesus would still have died for you. So amid your overwhelmed state, understand that God still loves you. With this mindset, you can quickly navigate your way out of the overwhelming state of sin.
2. You're Human
It's only spirits that do not make mistakes. As humans, we were created with susceptibility to errors and to make mistakes. The Holy Spirit helps us to live above mistakes and even sin. Even the scripture says, "For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes." Proverbs 24:16. So, you must trust in God's scriptural provisions to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. You have to believe in his ability to remove your sin as far as the east is from the west.
3. It's Not By Your Power
The war against sin is never fought in the energy of the flesh. So while you feel overwhelmed by sin, remember to surrender the fight to the Holy Spirit. The scripture made it clear in Zechariah 4:6, "So he said to me, "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty."
4. That there's always a way out
Look around you. There's always a way out. There's nothing you're struggling with that someone in the past did not successfully overcome, whether you know the person or not. God gave this assurance that there will always be a way out from whatever is making you feel overwhelmed with sin. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to humankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.".
5. Pray
The importance of prayer can never be over-emphasized. Prayer allows heaven to intervene with what is happening on earth and in your life. So when you feel overwhelmed by sin and it seems you're about to give in, pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help you not to give in to sin. A prayer said from a broken and helpless heart. God does not despise.
